I’ve always been kind of weird and artistic… I have finally found a place where I can let my weirdness shine!

I grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan. Graduated in 2004, went to bartending school and floated around doing odd jobs for a few years. In that time, I never really found anything that made me feel like me. I met my hubby in 2008 while working underground in a potash mine. Not glamourous at all, but it payed the bills, had good days off and was able to be home in my own bed every night. I figured I had found my forever and was comfortable where I was.

Flash forward to two beautiful baby girls later, married, and feeling content. Disaster struck. It seems as if all my years of working hard labor had caught up to me. I blew out my back. Herniated 3 disks and compressed my main nerve that controlled basically all of my lower body. I couldn’t even put my own socks on most mornings. I did physio therapy to maintain some function and waited for surgery.

While I was off waiting for surgery, I felt the urge to do something…to find something that was me. Tired of working a mindless job, going nowhere and wrecking havoc on my body. I decided to take an online 20 week photography class. I had never picked up a camera before for more then just a couple snaps here and there and I certainly knew nothing of making a camera work the way I wanted it to.

I have finally found a place in my life where I am truly happy…..

I come up with enough money to buy myself a learner camera, and finished my 20 week course in 16 weeks! I had finally found me! My weird, artistic self had finally found something that made me feel like me. I started doing free bookings for friends and family, practicing my skills and learning how to edit photos along the way. I felt comfortable with starting to charge for bookings in December 2016.

In 2019, we had another little bundle of joy show up. Although she may not have been planned..yep, three girls…Three beautiful little blue-eyed blondies (oh my lanta we are in trouble for teen years)

I have built myself a fulfilling, and self sufficient business, where I am comfortable, I am happy, and I feel as if this was what was planned for me all along. I took something so negative, and life changing like a severe back injury and made the best of it. I am thankful for the hardships I have faced in my life, they have shaped me into being the person I am today, they have helped me reach a place in my life were I am HAPPY.

In a world so full of negativity, and uncertainly, being happy has really helped with these hard times we are all dealing with. I am booking up 18 months in advance for weddings, months in advance for weekends and squeezing in short notice bookings where I can! I am able to help support my family, build a safe and comfortable environment for our littles grow up in, all the while working from home (except for booking days). I am feeling so happy and full-filled with where I am, I have now decided to build myself a studio to help expand my little business!

What I like about photography is that it captures a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce…..
